Last Urban Hoser
By: Charlie Mills
Guide this car got it through the dark
Where the winds are blowing
strong warm and hard
winds are blowing
strong warm and hard
Yes you raised me
Raised me well
By the lights of the tower and the Great Lakes' swell
Lights of the tower
And the Great Lakes swell
But I....I can't stay here anymore
And I...I don't belong
Last Urban Hoser
Hard to leave and I can't understand
It's the tax on the house
and the price on the land
tax on the house
and the price on the land
Tired of all the show and tell
Rest of the country
sees a swollen hell
My streetcar rolled passed
And the Gardens fell
Streetcar rolls past
and the Gardens fell
The restaurant got up on Leslieville
In the Cabbagetown
nothing comes for free
Stay or go I could do my best
Hanging out with the hipsters
Out on Queen West
In the end maybe it's just me
Singing Hogtown blues
Last Urban Hoser
i can't stay
Maybe I can stay
I can't stay
Last Urban Hoser
Yeah we made it through the dark
The winds are blowing
Strong, warm, and hard
The winds are blowing
Strong, warm, and hard
Streetcar rolls past
and the Gardens fell
The restaurant got up on Leslieville
In the Cabbagetown
nothing comes for free
Stay or go I could do my best
Hanging out with the hipsters
Out on Queen West
In the end maybe it's just me
Singing Hogtown blues
Last Urban Hoser
Yes you raised me
Raised me well
By the lights of the tower and the Great Lakes' swell
Yes you raised me
Raised me well
By the lights of the tower while the Great Lake swelled

State of Fear
By: Charlie Mills
Close the curtains and ya hit those lights
Batten down those hatches tight
Close the window
and ya lock the doors
Ya Divvy up what you had before
Well hidden here in plain sight
Gonna throw some doubt on the
After life
And it pulls me left and right
Pulls me left and right
Run both horses
you can win that race
Round the bend at Huxley's pace
Candid camera 'hind the TVs glare
You've got to microphone
My open air
Kill the truth, and the truth unfurls
Another sacrifice
To the Brave New World
It's the strange kind of world
That i live in
Strange kind of world
We keep spinning
State of Fear
And it pulls me left and right
Pulls me left and right
Strange kind of world
we keep spinning
State of Fear
Fighting all over the world
Grab your rattling sabres
Tax men they're gonna come
For the fruits of labour
Waiting on hope and change
Try to love that neighbour
Cashless world transaction send
Double-Speak and now the segway blends
These are the dark, dark nights
Strange days indeed
I got Nostradamus, through my TV screen
Here's Big Brother, he's your friend
Come to justify
Those means and ends
Strange kind of world
That I live in
Strange kind of world
We keep spinning
State of Fear

River Dream
By: Charlie Mills
The morning fog is slowly rising
I slide down to the water-side
I can hear them laughing at me
The locals and their cautious eyes
Cautious eyes
The water wraps around my pant leg
It goes along its merry way
Over rocks and under bridges
It's searching for the distant lake
The distant lake
And never in two moments
is a river quite the same
It's constantly in motion
The tributaries gain
Water's moving fast
Plan a good route back
Water's moving fast
So I take my hook, my line, and leader
And I throw it forward from my back
And it lands there out on the water
Lands there without a splash
Without a splash
And the sun comes through the forest
Where the cedars let it pass
To touch the surface water
And get reflected back
Was it just my eyes? or did I see it rise
Was it just my eyes? or did a shadow rise
Was it just my eyes? or did a brook trout rise
Was it just my eyes? Was it just my eyes?
Well it took my fly and we run downstream
In my River Dream
Well it took my fly and we run downstream
In my River Dream
Well it took my fly and we run downstream
In my River Dream
Well it took my fly…….
and we run downstream……
In my River Dream

Lakes and Bays
By: Charlie Mills
Sky on fire in the Georgian Bay
Where the wind twist the pine
And the rock guides the way
There are a thousand isles
More than my eyes can take
They can be all mine
Lakes and Bays
So let your woodsmoke rise
Sprucelawn stand and grow
The winters come and gone in Ontario
Yet the roads that wind, they've seen better days
I'm on Algonquin Time
Lakes and Bays
Lakes and Bays
Lakes and Bays
Bay-hey-hey-yays
Lakes And Bays
So Big-Moon night be there for me
A thousand points of light that the city doesn't
So don't wake me
From my Canadian Dream
Cause I'm not ready yet
Morning like the spring
Lakes and Bays
Lakes and Bays
Bay-hey-hey-yays
Lakes And Bays
Ice can't last, my canoe will pass,
Gonna be my....
Great escape
Leave the town behind, my Kawarthan sky
Provides me with,
Everything i need
My to discover
but i gotta take cover
To the tent for some loving
With a rainstorm coming
To the tent for loving
Got a rainstorm coming
To the tent for loving
In the land of Lakes and Bays

John A.
By: Charlie Mills
\Glasgow bar you're born
A child raised on Kingston shores
Did you miss your brother dearly?
Did you do your best?
Did you try to make him proud?
And would you do it all again?
To get your face back on the ten
Would the vision still compel you?
Of a rail and land that stretched
From sea to sea
And would you believe your eyes?
If you could see
What this northern land could do
Let the day belong to you
Go build a nation new
John A.
Tough talkin' Scot, 67 plot
And with any luck
Gin Blossom Statesman
Victorian Salesman
The Original Canuck
Some deaths in the family
Gotcha down,
tipping that Bottle to the crown
Hey hey John A
And with the new Dominion on the way
Gotta meet them down in Charlottetown
Gotta sell the B N A
Hey Hey John A
And this is for your main man
Darcy McGee
Father of Confederation gunned down
In the by-town streets
He helped you stop the Fenian Raids
Dead in your arms along the way
Hey Hey John A
So who cares what George Brown will say
We got a National Policy on the way
Hey Hey John A
This is for the North West Mounted Police
Territory risin' up, you sent the out
To keep the peace.
They helped you stop the Big Bear Cree
And you hate on those Metis
Shame, Shame John A
So who cares what George Brown will say
We got a National Policy on the way
Hey Hey John A
And what about Louis Reil
Had his day in court, you couldn't tell
You didn't have to hang him
And we say that to this day
Hey, Hey John A
But Wo-oh it got you money for the railroads
Wo-oh westward railroad
Wo-oh money for the railroads
Ride it all the way
Hey Hey John A
Here we go...all aboard!
This is for the men that died on the mountain pass
Who carried nitroglycerin in their hands
With the head-tax yet to come
They laid that track for everyone
Hey Hey John A
And when the railroad is done
Golden spike gleaming in the sun
We're gonaa ride-this iron horse
Into Vancouver Bay-hey hey John A
And I raise a glass to you all through
Each Dominion Day
Hey Hey John A……Raise a glass to John A
Hey Hey John A

Summer Air
By: Charlie Mills
Met her near the first July, Walking under open sky
The tall grass bends, The landscape blends
To a group of seven, It never dies
When I've been alone too long. I'm a sad,sad song
But then she came along, came along, came along
And knocked me out, with her Daisy dukes
And as the birds flew by, i got to sneak a look
Barely caught her eye, but it did the trick
The warm wind blew away the clouds
So white and thick
We could be happy in the Summer Air
My piece of mind is blowing through her hair
Woow wow
Summer Air
And I'm sorry for the lonely nights
I pretended not to know
It wasn't right
And I'm sorry for' all of my delay
Had to get myself together had to feel OK
We could be happy in the Summer Air
My piece of mind is blowing through her hair
Woow wow
Summer Air
I see her smile through her eyes, through her eyes
I see her smile
I see her smile through her eyes , through her eyes
Through her eyes
Summer Air
And we left the isle after 60 days
And the events of the nights before , left a lot to say
And as the car rolled down, the 401
She held my hand we drove into the setting sun
We could be happy in the Summer Air
My piece of mind is blowing through her hair
Woow wow
Summer Air
Woow wow

Save Us Now
By: Charlie Mills
Well ya need a load of stone
For the prison's second story
Clear out the farm
For the Mega-Quarries
And ya won't be happy
Till we're living in a crater
Robots running
the grain elevators
Something's wrong with the world...tonight
Something's wrong with the world...tonight
Something's wrong with the world...hold tight
Somebody Save Us Now
Save Us Now...somebody save us
Knock me down
you can't take my power
Monopoly on the
the broadcast tower
Well I got my education
Now I'm underemployed
I just turned 30
Wanna make some noise
Something's wrong with the world...tonight
Something's wrong with the world...tonight
Something's wrong with the world...hold tight
Somebody Save Us Now
Save Us Now...somebody save us
And there's nowhere left to run
And there's nowhere left to hide
Is there no one under the sun
That can Save Us Now
Something's wrong with the world...tonight
Something's wrong with the world...tonight
Something's wrong with the world...hold tight
Somebody Save Us
Got my education now I'm underemployed
I just turned 30 wanna make some noise.

Soul Still Growing
By: Charlie Mills
Drifting, Dreaming, I'm in irons in the night
The little voice within says "hold on for your life"
Then I'm tossed to the stern and
the waves they cross the bow
Lighthouse bulb burns out
And the sharks come circling, round , round, round
I'm the captain of my, ruderless ship
Depend on the harbours to catch me,
when the winter winds come too quick
Sail though I'm scared of the dark
The wind, the cold, and the rain
Sail for the distant shore, named "Everything's Ok"
But I don't know
Where I'm going
Just pretend when
No route showing
In saw Henry Hudson, drifting in the night
I said "Henry my man, your crew looks a little light"
He said "i've drifting here for four hundred years...
"i'd rather die lonely than just die with the mutineers"
"They don't know
where They're going"
Just pretend like passage showing
No, they don't know
Where their going
Just pretend like
Trade winds blowing
And the sea, it's no friend of mine
The sea, it's no friend of mine
And the sea, it's no friend
Just deep dark water got the North Star on my side
But I don't know
Where I'm going
Just pretend when
No route showing
No i don't know
where I'm going
Set a course for
Soul still growing

Friendships
By: Charlie Mills
I remember me and you
There were words beneath the summer moon
And the stars reflected on the lake
So I sang into the campfire's blaze
Now the years have passed us by
Will I take 'em back, I couldn't try
So I played four records till they bled
Blood on the tracks things left unsaid
But where'd my hair all go
It fell like winter snow
Age won't slow just shows
And I've got
Friendships down the road
Well my friendships come and my friendships grow
Friendships fade when friendships slow
Friendships saved when friends just phone
Said "something on my mind. Would you like to know '
Friendships down this road
Well my friendships come and my friendships grow
Friendships fade when friendships slow
Friendships saved when friends just phone
Said "something on my mind. Would you like to know '
Friendships down this road
Had some friends, hit their bottoms end
And i hadn't seen them for a while
Despite the bills, never break those wills
Now they're on their way to feeling fine
Only way to feel is fine
Friendships down this road
I think it's funny how my life rolls past
Like a prairie train on an endless track
Roaring across the open plain
Life's valleys and its mountain ranges
And all my friends, surround my life
And my heart feels warm beside the campfire's light
Memories flow through my mind
Like embers blow into the night sky
Well my friendships come and my friendships grow
Friendships fade when friendships slow
Friendships saved when friends just phone
Said "something on my mind.
Would you like to know '

Work In Progress
By: Charlie Mills
Here's the holding pattern
that I'm living in
One day to the next
Then the world caves in
Alright
But you know I've learned to push when it comes to shove
Now I'm lucky in life
Lucky in love
OK
Run to the truth
and the ties that bind
Let fools rush in
And bygones… by
And never give an inch
on your loyalty
It'll help you see the burning forest
For the trees
If the morning breaks
Separates your life
From your dreams
And everyone expires in the end
Job, Kids, Retire
Figure all this life out in-between
Just be a work, I'm a work
Work in progress
Well I'm never one to rise
With the morning doves
But 'm lucky in life, lucky in love
Alright
But it gets a little hard
to keep your spirits high
Running from the truth
And the ties that bind
Keep the friends you need
do your best to try to
Never let them down keep them
By your side
Never let the dark be a rising tide
It'll turn you from the light
And take you for a ride
If the morning breaks
Separates your life
From your dreams
And everyone expires in the end
Job, Kids, Retire
Figure all this life out in-between
Just be a work, I'm a work
Work in progress
Be a work, I'm a work
Just a Work in progress
So I'll go
Where the drinks are flowing
And I'll laugh
Into the wind and snow
And I will sing
My life unfolds, just how I know
Here I go
I'm a work in progress
